Mustache Transplantation
The process of adding hair to the upper lip area of people who cannot grow upper lip hair or who have augmentation is called mustache transplantation treatment. In this process, a method called FUE is used. In this method, local anesthesia is used and a 2-3 hour microsurgical procedure is applied.
Mustache Transplantation Process Step by Step
Mustache transplantation, which is similar to hair transplantation, is a much more sensitive procedure as it will be performed on the face area. Since it is the face area, care should be taken against possible scarring or unwanted complications.
- Local anesthesia is applied only to the upper lip area.
- The nape region is generally preferred as the donor area. However, depending on the situation, donor area arm or leg hair can also be used for mustache transplantation.
- Hair follicles (300-500 pieces) are collected one by one with the help of FUE method and micromotor.
- The roots, which are collected one by one, are cleaned and sorted and placed in the opened channels in the mustache area.
- The transplanted area is left open and a bandage is applied to the donor area for 3 days. During this period, the transplanted area is not washed for 3 days.
- The recovery period after transplantation takes about 10 days. In this process, the hair roots crust over. This crusting starts to shed slowly with the first wash on the 3rd day and the hair follicles heal.
- If the person is cornered, an operation may not be enough. In such a case, a second operation is performed approximately 8-9 months after the transplanted roots have taken hold.
- The hairs that grow after mustache transplantation can be shortened with scissors after 15 days.
- Shock shedding may occur 2-3 weeks after sowing. Although is not seen in everyone, mustaches start to grow again in the middle of the fourth month after the shock loss and continue to grow in the normal growth course.
- 6 months after the mustache planting, the planted roots begin to hold in place. As a result, it continues to elongate in the normal cycle.
